Typemill 2.20.2: The Publisher Theme
Typemill version 2.20.2 has arrived with the new Publisher theme. The theme allows you to create your own lightweight publishing platform. Download the Publisher theme from the theme directory and the latest version of Typemill from the start page.
Security: Please Update Old Versions
I recently received a security vulnerability report affecting Typemill. The issue has been fixed in Typemill 2.19.2. I strongly recommend that all users update to this version (or later) before mid-next week, as I plan to publish the full security report after that. No further action is required once you have updated.
The Publisher Theme
With the new Publisher theme, you can set up your own lightweight publishing platform and publish multiple ebooks as a website, PDF, or EPUB. Use it to publish ebooks for a small organization, training materials for coaches or educational companies, whitepapers for businesses, or ebooks as an independent author.

The Publisher Theme is especially designed for the multi-project feature of Typemill. The web version is designed for the best reading experience, with a nice pager, table of contents, book download, dark mode, and more. I am really excited about this theme because it demonstrates a very unique use case of Typemill that no other CMS provides this way right now. For a quick five-minute start, check the screencast about the publisher theme on YouTube.
Redesign of the Plugin and Theme Directories
I was not happy with the style of the plugin directory and theme directory, so I updated them last week. They look fresh now and much closer to the Typemill website. I still have to update the content, but I already wanted to share the current status.

Multilanguage Meta Tags
Finishing the multilanguage feature, I added correct meta tags to multilanguage websites in the frontend now. They automatically get the correct language tag now (pay attention and use the correct language shortcuts as an ID for each language project), and I also added the correct language links (alternate) to the meta headers. I published a screencast about the setup and the AI usage for multilanguage websites.
Next Steps
I will release version 2.21.0 in February and plan to fix and improve some details, like the image handling in meta tabs and maybe integrate the mail feature into the core. After that I will slow down the development a little bit and focus on plugins and theme improvements.
