Typemill 2.17.0: Media Lib, Tonality, and DockerHub

Sebastian Schürmanns |

Typemill version 2.17.0 has landed with new plugins from the community, more improvements to the media library, example articles for your KI prompts, and an official DockerHub version. Last but not least: Let us celebrate 500 stars for Typemill on GitHub! You can download the latest release of Typemill from the start page.

New Features

You can use the media library in the raw Markdown editor now and add media directly with a click. You will also find a new eye button that filters unused media so you can clean up your media lib. Be careful here and double-check if the media is really not in use anymore.

Another useful feature is the ability to add a link to an article in your own prompts. The linked article will be sent as an example along with your prompt and the article you work on. You can use the example to adopt your tonality, style, structure, or something similar. I tested it with this newsletter article, and it works quite well.

I also published an official DockerHub version. This should make deploying Typemill easier for those who prefer containerized applications.

New Plugins

In this release, several new plugins have been introduced. A new cookie plugin by Giuseppe Chiesa is now available, alongside a swipe plugin by Josef Pavlik, aimed at enhancing large image views. Both plugins are free to use and are great contributions to the small Typemill ecosystem. Additionally, a new newsletter plugin for KIT and Mailerlite has been published under the MAKER license. You can add newsletter forms to your Typemill website with it.

Next Steps

I will be transitioning to bi-monthly releases to devote more time to larger features, with the next release scheduled for July 15. For the next release, I will focus on developing the remote print/PDF service using WeasyPrint, complemented by minor improvements and updates.

I’m excited about these developments and encourage anyone interested in contributing to explore the possibilities. Thank you for your support, and see you in the next update!
