Typemill Goes Headless
With the new version 2.14.0 of Typemill, we are moving fast forward again and introduce an API that you can use for headless concepts.
An API for Typemill
Version 2.14.0 of Typemill introduces an API, or more accurately, we've added some useful API endpoints and finally managed to document everything. Typemill has always primarily operated with an internal API, so this isn't entirely new. However, with these new endpoints, you can now fetch the content of your Typemill website and integrate it elsewhere, such as inline help in your own software or service. This is something we plan to implement for Typemill itself in a future version.

New Documentation
The documentation of Typemill has been a pain point for many years, as it was outdated and integrated into the Typemill website. Now, the documentation is (mostly) up-to-date and hosted with the Guide theme under the subdomain docs.typemill.net. The Guide theme is currently our most popular theme, and I truly enjoyed creating the documentation with it.

Mermaid, HTML, Templates
Giuseppe Chiesa has updated the Mermaid plugin, and we integrated a demo page with various Mermaid charts into the documentation. It adds so much value to the content, so I installed the plugin on all my websites and started to create charts with it. You will also find a demo page for the updated HTML plugin, featuring a simple slideshow, a FAQ element, and a tab element. Since these elements require some HTML knowledge, I've also updated the Template plugin with these elements, making them easy to load and use. Stay tuned for even more support for these features coming with the next release...

Coming Next: Kixote AI
For the new documentation, I've already tested a feature slated for the next version, 2.15.0: Kixote will be enhanced with AI. This has been a primary goal of Kixote since its introduction a year ago. Even simple prompts, like spell-checking, have been incredibly helpful while writing the documentation. This is just the beginning - expect many more AI enhancements for Typemill this year. Check out this small demo and stay excited for the next release!
